Come With Me Or Go Alone: Jerry Garcia In Music, Art in Fairfield County

There’s a whole generation out there that fondly remembers touring along with the Grateful Dead. Alas, with Jerry Garcia’s death in 1995, the Dead, as they had been known and loved, were no more, but the spirit continues in the remaining members’ projects and in the many tribute bands that crisscross Fairfield County.

This Friday, April 20, at 8 p.m. the freshly refurbished Wall Street Theater at 71 Wall Street in Norwalk, is hosting The Garcia Project. This band takes one specific show of the Jerry Garcia Band anywhere from 1976 to 1995 and recreates it, song by song.

If you can’t make it to Norwalk, you can catch Legion of Jerry at BRYAC Restaurant & Raw Bar in Bridgeport. Located at 3074 Fairfield Avenue in Bridgeport, the show begins at 10 p.m. on April 20th.

And if it’s more than music you’re after, consider a trip to Greenwich’s C. Parker Gallery which is presenting “From the Vault: The Art of Jerry Garcia and the Grateful Dead” from April 19 to April 29 at its 409 Greenwich Avenue location. This unique event includes original and hand-signed artwork from Jerry Garcia and band members Bill Kreutzmann and Mickey Hart, as well as personal items from Jerry Garcia on exhibit. Items will also be available for sale.

For information about the art exhibit and sale visit C. Parker Gallery. For tickets, to The Garcia Project’s Norwalk show, which are $20 apiece, visit the Wall Street Theater. And visit BRYAC Restaurant  for more info on its Dead-related event.
